LNY Announces Opportunity for Rural Programs

Mon, Aug 6th 2018 10:00 am

This summer, we solicited your feedback and listened to your needs.  From your responses (over 300!), we identified student recruitment, engagement, and persistence as our first professional development topic.

The National Literacy Directory will choose five organizations to participate in an online eight-week cohort to explore current research and best practices to recruit, engage, and retain adult learners.  Organizations will then share their innovation with the field via the National Literacy Directory website.

The National Literacy Directory will agree to

  • Provide an online 8-week course on student recruitment, engagement, and persistence.
  • Host two virtual meetings for participants to share current problems of practice and strategies for solving them.
  • Offer ongoing coaching to develop innovation.
  • Highlight innovation and results so others can benefit.
  • Give a $2,000 stipend to be used for the innovation upon successful completion of cohort.
  • Provide two all-expense paid trips to 2019 NCFL Conference.

Chosen organizations will agree to

  • Complete the online course
  • Participate in two virtual meetings
  • Design and field test a program innovation that addresses topic
  • Agree to share their innovation with others
  • Use $2,000 stipend for program innovation
Travel to and present results at the 2019 NCFL conference.
