End of Summer Musings

We were told that people make decisions based on emotions, not on data. (I guess they never met the NYS Education Department)
Nonprofits are encouraged to come up with specific stories to highlight specific programs. The stories need to have some type of conflict, and ideally will illustrate a client overcoming some type of barrier to achieve a goal. Very inspiring, though we were told that our stories didn't necessarily need to have positive endings.
As I sat through the workshop I started thinking that we needed an adult literacy story bank. A collection of all of our stories—those with happy, sad and even unwritten endings. I am throwing this out to folks now: what do you think? Do you have an adult literacy story that you would like to share? Please email [email protected] if you have any thoughts or stories!!!
