This week, Literacy New York has been celebrating Adult Education and Literacy Week, a week where we recognize the hard work of programs and students. We engaged with 26 New York State Legislators via Zoom meetings, where we talked about the important work our providers do, and shared some of the struggles we are facing in this difficult budget year. Program directors, adult learners,and volunteers shared success stories from their programs-- adults who are able to secure employment, pass the High School Equivalency exam, and engage with their children's learning because of the support and instruction they receive from literacy providers.
We appreciate the time our legislative officials and their staff spent with us. Adult Education is essential!
